We have found that when Bosch builds a product, as a rule it is at least as good as and usually better than anything else on the market. But they say there is an exception to every rule, and in our view, the 5000 series Bosch food processor is such an exception.
Some of our complaints include whips that do not (nearly) reach the sides of the bowl, juicer grinder plates constructed of very short life plastic; they should be stainless steel, a dough hook that does not work particularly well, and a blender that has little to recommend it.
In contrast, Bosch makes three outstanding kitchen mixer systems which, with some accessories, do more and perform better than the 5000 series processor. They cost a little more but they represent outstanding value for your dollar and we think the machines on this page offer a poor value for your dollar. Because we hold them in such low esteem, we no longer stock the machines shown below.
If you really, really want one, we can have one shipped directly from Bosch to you. It normally takes about 3 weeks to arrive. But our suggestion is to look instead at the following three Bosch mixers and their accessories; Bosch Universal Mixer, the Bosch Concept Mixer, or the Bosch Compact Mixer. They are all great machines which, compared to the competition, are worth much more than they cost with the Universal model being the most popular.
We are normally a big enthusiast of the Bosch mixers, but we do not think you would like the 5000 series products. If you do not thing you need everything the Bosch mixers offer and would just prefer a great food processor, then we suggest you look at the excellent Cuisinart Food
Processor line.
The Cuisinart DLC-2014 and DLC-2011 models also do a great job of mixing and kneading small batches of dough. Cuisinart makes very strong, very high quality food processors that are a pleasure to use and last a long time.
